HARRISON— Laurine Margaret, of Burnaby, passed away suddenly on June 17, 2007. Laurine was born February 11, 1956 in Vancouver and attended school in Qualicum and Richmond.

Laurine was a gifted musician, loved nature, and had a passion for film. She worked at City Nights Theatre before becoming Cinema Simon Fraser Coordinator in 1978. Laurine then became University Relations Fieldworker for the Student Society.

Over the last 14 years as Ombudsperson, Laurine provided exceptional service and wise counsel to faculty, staff and students.

Laurine cherished her family and created exceptionally strong bonds with friends. Her patience and generosity knew no bounds. The zen of her being and being with her was more precious than words can express.

Laurine will be forever missed and lovingly remembered by her lifemate and partner of 20 years Sue Cox, sister Linda (Andy) Frison, brother Bradley (Chihoko) Harrison, in-laws Margaret & Albert Cox, Kathleen Cox, Kim (Roald) Krogstad, Steve Cox, nieces and nephews Kyle & Carley Frison, Jo Bradley Harrison, Jesse & Holly Cox, Tia & Aline Krogstad, uncle Leonard (Lorna) Cox, aunt Diane (Roy) Muir.

Also remembered by Vergie (Gordon) Cornfield, Rae (Raymond) Ference, her many cousins and other family members. Predeceased by mother Margaret and father Arthur Harrison and by brother-in-law David Cox.

Laurine's honesty, humility and humour nourished friendships new and old and she will be sadly missed by Jennifer, Andrew, Sarah, Charlie, Joan, Rob, Helena, Ellen, Wendy, Rhonda, Stephen, Jessica, Tom, Bronwen, Sandy, Gladys, Sheila, Natalie and many others.

Laurine's dedication to her work, commitment to her coworkers and the SFU community will be irreplaceable. This loss is also deeply felt by neighbours and merchants in the Burnaby Heights community where Laurine and Sue loved to shop for everything from hardware to olives.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, June 26 at 10:15 am at St. Andrew's Wesley United Church, 1022 Nelson (at Burrard). In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Laurine Harrison Endowment Fund at Simon Fraser University. Details from the University Advancement Office 604-291-5310.
